About Browntop Millet
Browntop is grown in small pockets of South India and is often the last millet people discover. It holds its shape well when cooked, so it suits bowls, salads and khichdi equally.
Because it is high in fibre, many families start with a smaller portion and mix it with rice or another millet.
How to Cook
- Rinse 1 cup millet well in cool water.
- Soak for 30–45 minutes — Browntop benefits most from soaking.
- Cook with 3 cups water, about 3 whistles in a pressure cooker.
- Rest, fluff and use warm or at room temperature in bowls.
Best Used For
- Breakfast bowls
- Khichdi
- Salads
- Mixed millet rice
